How to Diamond Paint

Step 1 | Prepare Your Canvas and Workspace

Start by unrolling your diamond painting canvas on a clean, flat surface. If it curls, weigh down the edges or tape it lightly to your work table. Carefully peel back a small section of the protective film (do not remove it all at once to keep the adhesive clean and sticky). Organize your tools, diamond drills, tray, applicator pen, and wax, so everything is within easy reach. Good lighting is key, so choose a well-lit area or use a desk lamp for precision.

Step 2 | Pick, Dip, and Place Your Diamonds

Every canvas has a printed chart with symbols that correspond to specific diamond colors. Start with one color at a time to keep things organized. Pour a small number of diamonds into your tray and shake gently so they flip right side up. Dip the tip of your applicator pen into the wax to create a light tackiness, then pick up a diamond and press it onto the corresponding symbol on the canvas. Repeat this process until the section is complete, working in small areas to maintain adhesive strength.

Step 3 | Secure and Enjoy Your Masterpiece

Once your diamond painting is complete, gently press down on the diamonds using a rolling pin or flat book to ensure they're firmly adhered. For extra security, some crafters add a thin layer of sealant, but this step is optional. Now, step back and admire the shimmer! If you plan to display your piece, consider framing it under glass to protect it from dust and preserve its sparkle for years to come.
